After many years in the ‘80s as a headlining comic, Josh Mandel became an advertising copywriter by day, and a computer gaming journalist and betatester at night. His first full-time job in the industry was at Sierra On-Line, where he designed Freddy Pharkas, Frontier Pharmacist and Space Quest VI, and crafted story, text, and/or music for over twenty other games. He was also the original voice of King Graham in five King’s Quest games, and did voice and on-camera work for many other Sierra games, including Phantasmagoria, Space Quest IV, Laura Bow 2: The Dagger of Amon Ra and Jones in the Fast Lane. He later designed the award-winning Callahan’s Crosstime Saloon for Legend Entertainment, and his design and dialogue work has also appeared in games from Sir-Tech (Jagged Alliance 2 and add-ons), Broderbund (Where in Time is Carmen Sandiego?), Sega (as Director of Game Design), Vicarious Visions (The Wild Thornberrys, Blue’s Clues), Dynamix, Donruss, Microsoft, and more. More recently, he teamed up with his ex-Sierra friends: Al Lowe, for Leisure Suit Larry-Reloaded, Corey and Lori Cole, for Hero U: Rogue to Redemption, and the Two Guys from Andromeda for SpaceVenture.
Mandel currently resides in Albany, New York with his family, his dog, and his cookbooks.
