25 Years of Trying To Catch 'em All!

To celebrate 25 years of  Pokémon in North America, LI Retro is proud to present The LI Retro PokéLab!

Visitors to the PokéLab can not only get pictures with cosplayers from Pokémon’s history, but also bring their Game Boy, Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS Pokémon games to get some rare and legendary Pokémon that were only released at exclusive events spanning the past 3 decades.

See below for a complete list of Pokémon you can obtain and any pre-requisites you’ll need to have.  You can find the distribution schedule in our app.

Game Boy/Game Boy Color (Pokémon Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver, Crystal)

Pokémon Yellow, Red, or Blue –  Must have received the Pokedex from Professor Oak, and have at least 1 extra pokemon available to trade

Pokémon Gold, Silver, or Crystal – Must Have unlocked the Time Capsule which allows you to Trade with Gen 1 games. This requires having met the character Bill in Ecruteak City and then waiting 24 hours. You will also need to have at least 1 extra Pokémon available to trade, which was available in Gen 1 with no new moves.  The Time Capsule  is located in Goldenrod City’s Pokémon Center. 

Game Boy Advance (Ruby, Sapphire, FireRed, LeafGreen, Emerald)

Requires any GBA Pokémon game, with the ability to Trade to Friend unlocked.

 

Must have Mystery Gift or Mystery Event unlocked, depending on the game.  If you have a wireless adapter please bring it. Only works on games that have not previously obtained a Pokémon via this method.

Mystery Event must be unlocked.  Only works on games that have not previously obtained a Pokémon via this method.  To unlock Mystery Event – 

  • Defeat Norman at the Petalburg Gym, and head to the Petalburg Pokemon Center and talk to the NPC next to the PC. They will ask you for a phrase. Enter “MYSTERY EVENT IS EXCITING” and finish speaking to the NPC. Save your game, and the next time you boot up your game, Mystery Event will be available on the main menu.
  • This will allow you to Obtain the Eon Ticket and Catch either Latios or Latias, depending on your game. It will be holding the Soul Dew item!
  • This Event can only be received on games that have not previously received this Event

Requires Ruby or Sapphire, and an empty space in the players party to receive. Have an open spot in your party, Save your game in a Pokemon Center, and have not used this bonus disk to have received a Jirachi in that gameboy game yet.

FireRed, LeafGreen and Emerald  – Head to any Pokemart and Fill out the Survey on the counter with the Phrase “Link Together With All” and save the game. The next time you boot the game, Mystery Gift will be avaliable on the main menu.

Ruby & Sapphire – Defeat Norman at the Petalburg Gym, and head to the Petalburg Pokémon Center and talk to the NPC next to the PC. They will ask you for a Phrase. Enter” Mystery Event Is Exciting” and finish speaking to the NPC. Save your game, and the next time you boot up your game, Mystery Event will be avaliable on the main menu.

Nintendo DS (Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold, SoulSilver, Black, White, Black2, White2)

  • Distributes Pikachu Colored Pichu (01/30/10) and Jirachi (02/27/10), depending on dates set.
  • Pikachu Colored Pichu Unlocks the Spiky Eared Pichu in HeartGold or SoulSliver.
  • Jirachi Unlocks Night Sky’s Edge Pokewalker Course in HeartGold or SoulSilver.
  • Works with Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold and SoulSilver. Mystery Gift must be unlocked.
  • Only works on games that have not previously obtained a Pokemoni via this method.
  • Celebi Unlocks a Special Event in HeartGold and SoulSilver when you bring it to the Ilex Shrine.
  • Celebi Unlocks Zorua in Pokemon Black and White when sent over and brought to a house with a lost girl in Castelia City.
  • Works with Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold and SoulSilver. Mystery Gift must be unlocked.
  • Only works on games that have not previously obtained a Pokemoni via this method.
  • Keldeo Unlocks a special move when brought to the Moor of Icirrus in Pokemon Black and White.
  • Works with Black or White. Mystery Gift must be unlocked.
  • Only works on games that have not previously obtained a Pokemoni via this method.
  • Meloetta Unlocks a special move when brought to the cafe in Castelia city in Black and White.
  • Works with Black, White, Black 2, White 2. Mystery Gift must be unlocked.
  • Only works on games that have not previously obtained a Pokemoni via this method.
  • Distributes Shiny Suicune (01/31/11), Shiny Entei (01/17/11), and Shiny Raikou (01/03/11), depending on dates set.
  • Any of these Pokemon unlock Zoroark when transferred to Black and White in the Lostlorn Forest.
  • Works with Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold and SoulSilver. Mystery Gift must be unlocked.
  • Only works on games that have not previously obtained a Pokemoni via this method.
  • Distributes Shiny Palkia (09/09/2013), Shiny Dialga (08/19/2013), and Shiny Giritina (09/30/2013), depending on dates set.
  • Works with Black, White, Black 2, White 2. Mystery Gift must be unlocked.
  • Only works on games that have not previously obtained a Pokemoni via this method.

Diamond, Pearl, Platinum – Head to the Jublife TV Station. Talk to a Producer on the 3rd floor, and give them the Phrase “EVERYONE HAPPY WIFI CONNECTION” and save your game. When you boot it up again, you will have the Mystery Gift option on your main menu.

HeartGold and SoulSilver – Obtain the Pokedex and the Mystery Gift option will automatically unlock!

 

Pokémon Diploma Printer

Trainers with Pokémon Yellow, Gold, Silver, or Crystal can come print out their Pokedex Completion Diploma’s, or their High-Scores from the Pikachu’s beach mini game in Pokemon Yellow, if they have that unlocked. 

  • The Diploma is located in the Gamefreak offices in Celadon Condominiums.
  • Players Must have completed the Pokedex to print the Diploma.
  • Can also print out High Scores from Pokemon Pinball.
  • Pages from the Pokedex or Boxes in Yellow and Gen 2 can also be printed.
