Tristan Ibarra

Tristan Ibarra is a video game historian, published author, graphic designer, and longtime collector with more than 30 years in the hobby. He is the author of: 

  • The Video Game Console Collector’s Field Guide, a 460-page book filled with some of the most obscure game consoles you’ve never heard of
  • The Video Game Collector’s Field Guide, a massive four-volume, 2,408-page visual video game encyclopedia
  • and Tristan Ibarra’s Videogame Dictionary for the Total N00B
  • Plus, several more exciting and unannounced video game books that are deep in the works

A retired United States Air Force veteran, Tristan served 20 years on Active Duty before retiring in 2020 as a Master Sergeant. After retiring, he worked in defense contracting before returning to school full-time to pursue a degree in graphic design.

Tristan is the Senior Layout Designer for Old School Gamer Magazine and has over a decade of experience creating game manuals and packaging for indie homebrew releases on retro consoles, as well as officially licensed Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4/5 titles. He also works as a freelance graphic designer, advertising content creator, and video editor.
